Lovers' Dreams
by Phil Slattery
Abstractions
Think of me when you think of the stars
Remember our night walks beneath the evergreens
Remember our starlight drives
Remember the blanket of night covering us
while we lay curled in lovers' dreams
The night sky glistens and I remember your eyes
On the crowded dance floor
Above a candlelit table
Above a black shift
while soft music from the stereo
drifts
through my open bedroom door
Think of me often
And let's walk together still
Through the night-drenched forests
Through chattering city streets
as we forever have and forever will
Though thousands of miles stretch between us
we can still lay curled in lovers' dreams
